LECTURA DE VERANO + PLÁTICA: TINÍSIMA | ART OPENING: PHOTOS FROM MEXICO'S ARCHIVO CASASOLA

Tina Modotti, "la bella Italiana," scandalized Mexico when she arrived there in 1923 with photographer Edward Weston, her married lover. Her art, ideas, and politics shocked Mexico to the point that she had to be deported. She landed in …the Soviet Union and spent the rest of her life doing secret missions for the Soviet government and fighting in the Spanish Civil War. Her life came full circle when she return to Mexico in 1939, a very changed woman.
