A daylong celebration of the artists, the facility, and the community that brought the beloved Nutcracker Ballet to America.

The Nutcracker Ballet, a beloved Christmas tradition, has deep roots in Historic Downtown Brigham City. It began in 1903, when Christian and Peter Christensen constructed the Box Elder Academy of Music and Dancing, where Willam, Harold, & Lew Christensen learned to dance. Entrance into the Christmas Market is free. However, tickets are required to attend the live performance of The Nutcracker Ballet.

KATIE SHEEN ABBOTT

Choreographer; Dancer; Musician; UDAM Teaching Artist | Katie regularly performs throughout Utah with her cuadro which includes: Jake Abbott (guitar and cante), Sandy Meek (guitar), and Julie Sheen (cajon and palmas). While growing up in Utah she studied jazz, ballet, tap and hip-hop. After moving to Baltimore, Maryland for graduate school she fell in love with Flamenco after taking her first Sevillanas class. She studied with Solange Gomes for several years in Salt Lake City and most recently she lived in Sevilla, Spain where she studied with many flamenco maestros, including Luisa Palacio, Angel Atienza, Isabel Bayon and Javier Baron.
