Pine Needle Basket Making

Tis the season to work with Pine! Learn how to turn an ordinary item like pine needles into a beautiful basket, in one day!

This class is excellent for beginners and just might make you fall in love with basket making. Students will learn the basic techniques needed to make a small pine needle basket. Pine needle baskets use a method in basketry called coiling. Coiling begins at the center of a basket and grows in spiral rounds, each attached to the round before.  Instruction on how to start a basket with a decorative center will be given using the basic swirling stitch. Ages: 12+ (beginners to intermediate)

Materials: $15 materials fee, paid to instructor day of class. (Includes: dyed and natural pine needles, decorative center, waxed linen thread, decorative beads, and tapestry needles)
