Pine Nut Roasting

Presented by Fremont Indian State Park and Museum and Paiute Indian Tribe of Utah and Utah Humanities at Fremont Indian State Park and Museum, Sevier UT

Sep 12 2020
Pine Nut Roasting

Come for a demonstration by local members of the Paiute Tribe on how to roast Pine Nuts! The pine nut harvests are fickle from year-to-year, varying in location and wealth of nuts. This is because pine nuts take 18 months to three years to mature, and often result from good rains. Come learn about Paiute lifeways, learn how to grow your own seeds and make a pine cone craft. Only family units at each station/table at a time. Disinfecting will occur between activities.
