Principles of Waterwise Landscape

Existing water supply in Utah is at historic lows; regardless, landscape irrigation accounts for more than half of culinary water use. Utahans are proud of their beautiful landscapes and love to keep them lush and attractive. However, to do so, they often over-irrigate, leading to the loss of water and other resources. With proper planning, efficient design, careful plant selection and proper maintenance, we can achieve an equally beautiful and functional landscape with just a fraction of input, such as water and fertilizers. Such resource-efficient landscapes are called Waterwise landscapes, and in this session, we will learn about Waterwise landscapes and how to design them.
