Salt Lake City Junior and Young Artists Preliminary Round Competitions

38 of the world’s most talented young pianists perform in Salt Lake City in their quest to perform with the Utah Symphony.

38 of the world’s most talented young pianists perform in Salt Lake City as part of the Preliminary Round of the Junior and Young Artists International Piano Competitions, seeking to advance to the semi-finals happening in June in Salt Lake City and to compete for medals, prizes and the opportunity to perform with the Utah Symphony.

With each competitor performing a 30-minute concert, you can hear one or all! Admission is free.

KATIE SHEEN ABBOTT

Choreographer; Dancer; Musician; UDAM Teaching Artist | Katie regularly performs throughout Utah with her cuadro which includes: Jake Abbott (guitar and cante), Sandy Meek (guitar), and Julie Sheen (cajon and palmas). While growing up in Utah she studied jazz, ballet, tap and hip-hop. After moving to Baltimore, Maryland for graduate school she fell in love with Flamenco after taking her first Sevillanas class. She studied with Solange Gomes for several years in Salt Lake City and most recently she lived in Sevilla, Spain where she studied with many flamenco maestros, including Luisa Palacio, Angel Atienza, Isabel Bayon and Javier Baron.
