McKay Nicholl’s conception of The Tempest is set in a New England Tavern, populated by whalers and ship makers with many a story of the sea. This free adaptation features characters who are bound together against the elements as they pass the night telling an elaborate sea-faring tale (one of Shakespeare’s best) of magic and intrigue, revenge, and redemption.
