Convention of the Southern Pacific Historical & Technical Society and the Union Pacific Historical Society. Presentations by speakers, scale model contest room, and a room of vendors selling scale models, books, and railroad memorabilia.

Southern Pacific Historical & Technical Society and the Union Pacific Historical Society will be meeting at the Ogden Eccles Conference Center from Wednesday May 8 to Saturday May 11. Presentations, scale model contest, vendors, and a banquet on Saturday night.   1. I am having a tough time finding information on the railroads and its impact on Utah–specifically, Cedar City. Our libraries seem to have NO information–can you help me get the historical information? Thank you for your time and attention. Jacki

    • Jacki, I’m over in Orderville, so I know where you’re talking. You might look more to books about mining in Utah (sorry I can’t recommend something more specific than that). Cedar City’s rail connection was primarily about the iron mines west of town and the National Parks connection (it looks like there’s an event focused on that on the Events page of spike150.org.   2. Hello Jacqueline, I cannot find any information. There may not have been any as the Union Pacific mainline is west of Cedar City in Nevada and does not enter Utah until it is southwest of Modena, UT. Try this website for possible information
