Steel Magnolias is a comedy by Robert Harling with moments of emotional poignancy about a group of Southern women that meet in Truvy’s Beauty Parlor to share friendship, bickering and support as they each go through life’s ups and downs. The strong, realistic personalities and quick wit of these five women will have you laughing and feeling gratitude for the joys of family and friends.

KATIE SHEEN ABBOTT

Choreographer; Dancer; Musician; UDAM Teaching Artist | Katie regularly performs throughout Utah with her cuadro which includes: Jake Abbott (guitar and cante), Sandy Meek (guitar), and Julie Sheen (cajon and palmas). While growing up in Utah she studied jazz, ballet, tap and hip-hop. After moving to Baltimore, Maryland for graduate school she fell in love with Flamenco after taking her first Sevillanas class. She studied with Solange Gomes for several years in Salt Lake City and most recently she lived in Sevilla, Spain where she studied with many flamenco maestros, including Luisa Palacio, Angel Atienza, Isabel Bayon and Javier Baron.
