The Living Folk Tradition: A Day with Dr. Miriam Factora

Dr. Miriam Factora will present folk songs and singing games from her native Philippines to help develop music literacy in school-age children.

Authentic music education is essentially an act of cultural preservation. Dr. Miriam Factora is a living example of this important idea. Through her pioneering research in her native Philippines, Dr. Factora has created a collection of pedagogically sequenced materials to help students develop music literacy–based entirely on examples from her own Filipino tradition.

On April 20, 2019, Dr. Factora will be presenting a workshop at Odyssey Charter School (738 E. 700 S.) in American Fork, Utah.
