Spencer Fox Eccles: Treasures of the Transcontinental Railroad

Start to Finish: The 1862 Pacific Railway Act to the 1869 Last Spikes at Promontory.

Don’t miss your chance to see artifacts from the transcontinental railroad on exhibit at the Utah State Capitol for this 150th anniversary celebration. For the first time since May 10, 1869, three out of four of the spikes used at Promontory Summit to signify the completion of the railroad will be on display together, and traveling from the National Archives in Washington D.C., see the original 1862 Pacific Railway Act signed by President Abraham Lincoln. UDAM Teaching Artist; Visual Artist | Trish Clay has worked for forty years teaching and counseling at all levels from elementary to college, including Job Corps and prison programs. She has been awarded many awards for her teaching, including two Fulbright scholarships to Japan and the Beverly Sorenson Award for Secondary Art Teacher of the Year. She has taught in China and Vietnam and traveled throughout the world, gathering ideas for her teaching. She loves to teach and interact with students of all ages, and continues to work with Girl Scouts, private individuals and the prison half way house for women.
