The unveiling of a life-sized bronze of Chief Sanpitch, namesake of Sanpete County and sculpted by Brad Taggert, will be celebrated with a Ute Leader pow wow on June 25 in Mount Pleasant, Utah.

The public is invited to the dedication of a life-sized monument of Chief Sanpitch in Mount Pleasant, Utah. This powerful Native American’s story is significant to the history and naming of Sanpete county. In a county whose Mormon history is celebrated, it is important to remember the original people.
