The Choral Arts Society of Utah, incorporated in 1985 has a long history of choral performances including our local performances in Utah. The choir performs 5-6 times each season, including the Armed Forces Day Concert in May, on the 3rd Saturday of the month, and a Fall Concert and Spring Concert. In 1997, the choir began its two signature concerts, including the Days of ’47 Pops Concert at Abravanel Hall, collaborating with many fabulous Utah artists. The two-night event continues a 72-year tradition. The KUTV 2News Salvation Army Angel Tree Benefit Concert helps bring Christmas to less fortunate children and families in Utah and 2019 will be our 22nd year presenting this community event. All of our local concerts are free except for this fund-raising concert at Christmas. We also perform at local community events, such as the Dedication of 2 phases of the Huntsman Cancer Institute, and the dedication of the new Sunrise Chapel at Camp Williams, Utah, a facility used by the Utah National Guard. The Choir performed the premiere performance of Michael McLean’s The Garden in the spring of 1996. Two of Utah’s Governors invited the choir to sing at their Gubernatorial Inauguration. In 1991, the choir sang at the 1998 Olympic Bid announcement in Salt Lake City and performed at several venues for the 2002 Winter Olympics.
Our travels abroad include a performance of Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass at Carnegie Hall in June 1999 and Mozart’s Requiem in January 2005. In Ju

In March 2019, the choir performed again at New York City’s famed Carnegie Hall, performing Gabriel Faure’s Requiem in D Minor, under the direction of our conductor, Sterling Poulson.

The Salt Lake City Mission is sponsoring it and will advertise the event to all 69 Stakes in the area and will contact the Layton mission to do the same. It is currently scheduled for mid June. It will be a sold out event all nights.
Would you be able to put together a chorus and orchestra to perform this work. Some financial aid is available but the orchestra would need to be largely volunteer. It will also need to be professional. The music is not easy.
Sincerely,
Peter Covino, Jr.
