Founded in February 1998, Jubilate is a professional chamber choir composed of a diverse group of musicians who share their love of choral music with their audiences. The group uses a technique known as "choral voicing" to enable each musician to sing out fully in his/her natural voice. This eliminates the need for singers to "blend" with voices around them. With this "voicing" technique, singers are never positioned in sections, but can be moved around freely. In 2002, Jubilate was the sponsoring choir for a performance of the Mozart Requiem as a part of the worldwide "Rolling Requiem". The "Rolling Requiem" was a memorial to the victims of the attacks of September 11, 2001. Jubilate opened the performance to all area musicians who wished to participate. This was a very moving and successful venture. In addition to producing concert performances, Jubilate is actively dedicated to fostering the arts in education. In the past, the group has sponsored and worked with numerous area high school choirs. This year, they are focusing on music in the elementary classroom and have formed a partnership with the Salt Lake City School District.
