Mountain Jubilee Chorus (MJC) is a local chapter of Sweet Adelines International. We sing in the 4-part harmony of Barbershop style – the best close harmony ever! Real Women, Real music! They like to sasy, “Men invented the barbershop style, but we women perfected it!”
The chorus was chartered in 1961 as Bountiful Chapter Chorus. The chorus admins changed the name to Mountain Jubilee because we were not “just” in the Bountiful, Utah area. At the time the members were scattered from Ogden down to Spanish Fork. So the members were all along the Wasatch Front.
Mountain Jubilee is a dynamic ensemble of women. They have won several times in their Region 8 (7 states) competitions. In the International competitions MJC has placed several times in the top 10. Twice in 5th place in the world! We are so proud of our history.
MJC has a new director, Jennifer Taylor, a native Utahan. She has a Masters in Music. She has taught in Colorado, Hawaii and now in Park City.
MJC has a wide variety of their repertoire: “Don’t Stop Me Now, Sound Celebration, Love Letters, A Million Dreams (from The Greatest Showman), Go the Distance, and others.
