Silver Reef was a mining boom town in the late 1800’s with the discovery of silver in sandstone –  a geological rarity.

The area is now a Wild West Ghost Town located in a stunning geological setting. On the 4th week of the month, our museum celebrates the 1870’s with our docents dressed in the clothing of the era, and perform shoot out dramas and history lectures on 4th Saturdays! We also have a new mine exhibit in our basement, that will give you a feel for what mining was like in 1870 Silver Reef, UT. Also on 4th weekend, acclaimed Utah artist/sculptor Jerry Anderson will have his private studio open across the street from the museum.

Start your visit at the Wells Fargo Express Stop Building and take a guided tour of the historic Museum, which is registered on the National and Utah State Registers of Historic Buildings.

You will find numerous spectacular areas to visit within walking distance of the museum.

Silver Reef is located 18 miles North of St. George, Utah, off I-15 at the ‘Leeds’ exit.
