Jane DeGroff is a self taught shibori artist. She uses natural dyes and shibori techniques to create beautiful patterns on silk. Shibori is a Japanese manual resist dyeing technique which produces patterns on fabric. Shibori has been practiced for hundreds of years. Jane uses primarily stitch resist (nui) , itajime (clamp), arashi (pole wrapping), and Ne-maki (bound) resist techniques. Each scarf is carefully dyed by hand and each is unique.
