“I create pottery in order to understand the world around me to the fullest. I use it to capture moments in time, feelings, experiences, and images that I want to immortalize. I study ancient forms of pottery, drawing inspiration into the vessels I create, the carvings I etch into clay surfaces, and the colors of the glazes I choose. I am inspired by my family and my friends, creating work that resonates with the people I love, offering them a glimpse into the power of turning clay into beautiful vessels. I draw inspiration from the human body, from rain falling on the surface of clear water, from unending evergreen forests and small black bears. I draw inspiration from the raw metals that compose the world around me, and the journeys of my predecessors. My pottery tells the stories of my life, the people who surround me, and those long past.”
