Patrick Madden is the author of three essay collections from the University of Nebraska Press: Disparates (2020), Sublime Physick (2016), and Quotidiana (2010). He is also co-editor of After Montaigne: Contemporary Essayists Cover the Essays (2015) and co-translator of the Selected Poems of Eduardo Milán (2012). He has received two Fulbright Fellowships to Uruguay and a Howard Foundation Fellowship; his writing has received awards from Foreword magazine, the Association for Mormon Letters, and PEN Center USA. Eight of his essays have been listed among Best American Essays’s “notables.” Four have been nominated for Pushcart Prizes. Originally from New Jersey, he has lived in Lehi, Utah, since 2004. He teaches at Brigham Young University and Vermont College; he curates the online anthology and essay resource Quotidiana; he is vice president of the NonfictioNOW conference; he co-edits the journal Fourth Genre with Joey Franklin; and, with David Lazar, he co-edits the 21st Century Essays series at the Ohio State University Press.
