Erin Romero is always inspired by the creative genius of children and believes that everyone can tap into their own experiences to challenge their creative voice. She started dancing in Colorado and chose to study dance in the Department of Modern Dance at the University of Utah. While completing her degree, she was accepted as a member of the Orchesis Honor Society for her work in choreography and performance. Since graduation, she has received her Pilates certification, and has created several dances and dance films performed by her company the Kaser Dance Ensemble. Her work has been supported by several grants from the Utah Arts Council and the Salt Lake City Arts Council. She was a founding member of the dance improvisation group Movement Forum, and danced with them from 2003-2008. Her own teaching experience also includes mixed-ability dance classes for dancers with disabilities, improvisation, and modern dance technique for all ages and levels. In her teaching, Erin believes that she can learn so much from the students as they willingly take part in the dance class. This experience will cultivate creative problem-solving skills and body-mind awareness. As an appreciation for all the arts extends to the students, Erin believes that a generation of sensitive, responsible, and respectful individuals will develop. A culminating performance from student choreography is planned at the end of each residency, to share this artistic growth with the community. Requires a CD player and percussion instruments, if available. A large space for movement is necessary, preferably without carpeting. TV and DVD player are useful as well. Available for residencies, teacher training, collaborations with other artists, extended projects, and short-term activities.
