Annette Whitaker Everett was raised in Spokane Washington. From her childhood, she has been an artist. She received her art education at Brigham Young University (1968–1971), the University of Utah (1971-1972), and the Art Academy of Cincinnati (1985). She continues to hone her craft through workshops such as the Richard MacDonald masters Sculpture Workshop, among others. In 1997, Annette established BRUSHWORKS Fine Art Studio & Gallery withfellow-artists and friends. This became a classroom, workshop, clubhouse and creative sanctuary for Southern Utah artists and their many students. Annette has been a teacher in her studio for many years and continues to teach. She paints in pastel and oil, creating traditional and representational landscapes, portraits, and still life. Annette sculpts in clay, both oil base and water-base, creating figurative pieces in bronze and fired clay. She began sculpting as an assistant to L’Deane Trueblood, where she participated in the design and completion of several bronze monuments, including “Saint Clare” for the Saint Clare Catholic Hospital of Weston, Wisconsin, and “The Watermaster” in Saint George, Utah. December 2007, Annette’s maquette sculpture, “Duet, Mary & Martha” was awarded “Best of Show” in a national competition sponsored by American Women Artists. April 2008, “The Sandman”, a life-size monument was placed and dedicated to the volunteers of the floods of 2005 in the Town Square of Saint George, Utah. May 2008, “The Volunteer”, a life-size monument honoring volunteer firemen was placed at the Santa Clara City Office Building, Santa Clara City, Utah. RECENT COMMISSIONS 6” sculpture of a child commissioned to represent The Thrasher Research Fund organization, 2008 ART AWARDS AND JURIED EXHIBITIONS & PERMANENT COLLECTIONS December 2007 Juried into American Women Artists exhibition, “Duet, Mary & Martha”;where it was honored with “Best of Show”award. November 2003 Saint George Art Museum, Regional Exhibit. 1st place sculpture Collections of civic leaders, fellow-artists and others: Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints commissioned 2 paintings for permanent exhibit at the St. George Tabernacle, commissioned painting for the permanent collection of Dixie State College. Bronze monument sculptures for the cities of Saint George, Utah, and Santa Clara City, Utah. COMMUNITY SERVICE 2004- present Invited to serve on committee to begin annual outdoor exhibit,“Art Around the Corner”; showed new work in this exhibit every year. 2000- present Saint George Museum of Art Meet the Artist for local school district. 1994–1997Served on the Saint George Visual Arts Committee.
