Artistic Director for the Oregon Puppet Theatre, Bruce Chesse is a second-generation puppeteer with more than 30 years experience. He is an internationally recognized puppet designer, manipulator, actor, director, and teacher. Bruce’s interest in puppetry is two- fold. He believes that puppetry is an inherently theatrical medium, and that persons of all ages and with a variety of skills can excel at this form of theater. Bruce has performed and taught puppetry (since he began his professional puppetry career at 13) in such varied places as Ethiopia, Scandinavia, Japan, Puerto Rico and throughout the United States including many years as a artist in schools for Alaska Arts Education, Utah Arts Council, Idaho State Arts Council and Oregon State Council on the Arts. His most recent residency was in Cedar City UT for Carrie Trenholm (trenholm@suu.edu) SUU College of Performing and Visual Arts and a residency at North City Elementary.
