Travel back in time for an evening as Glastonbury Duo plays music from the Celtic countries, Tudor England and Renaissance Europe. Carol and Dave Sharp play many kinds of music, including haunting Harp and Flute, Songs of long ago, and rousing dance tunes. Glastonbury duo includes period costumes, hand carved instruments, and storytelling, with elements of culture, history and language. (Stories written by us include: David of the White Rock, The Glashan's Flute, The Jackdaw's Ring, King Halvar's Cat, Tom the Tailor, Donald and the Changeling Child, The Spear of Victory, Donald and the Water Kelpie, and the Fairy Tinker.) Instruments include a hand carved Celtic Harp, Bowed Psaltry, Irish Flute, Whistles, Recorders, Flute d'Accord, Alto Cornamuse, Rebec, Zils, Bodhran, Tambourine, and Eppinette. Vocals are sung in Gaelic, Cymrig, Scottish lowland dialect, Latin and old English. You can even see a Unicorn percussion toy used in Medieval and Renaissance plays and music. For willing participants, we might pass out percussion instruments and teach a simple dance or two from the villages and courts of Europe. Glastonbury duo is comprised of Dave and Carol Sharp, founding member of the Celtic and Traditional group Idlewild, which has toured and played in many festivals throughout the western region of the United States. They have sixteen albums released through Idlewild Recordings L. L. C. and have performed at many of the Renaissance festivals throughout the western United States as well.
