Melou Stewart Cline is an American classical singer, composer and pianist. In 2008, Melou performed as a vocal soloist with the Utah Chamber Artists in La Madeleine (Paris) and St. Brides Cathedral (London). In May 2008, 2009 and 2010 Melou performed her original music (soloing on voice and piano) at Kingsbury Hall (Salt Lake City, Utah) with the Virginia Children’s Dance Theater. Most recently Melou was a vocal soloist (with Utah Chamber Artists) in July 2010 at the Utah Symphony Deer Valley Music Festival in Park City, Utah. In 2011 Melou will be performing in different venues throughout Salt Lake City, St. George, Utah, and California. Melou Stewart Cline graduated with a B.A. degree from the University of Utah and a M.A. degree from the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California. Melou is a Board Certified Music therapist and uses music to help individuals with specific issues and concerns. She is a member of the Utah Music Therapy Association and the American Association of Music Therapy. Melou has produced, written, arranged and performed on four of her own music albums.They are “Creio am Cristo,” “The Gift of Time,” and “The Sleep of the Child Jesus.” Melou is releasing her most recent vocal CD “A Celebration of Life” in February 2011. Melou writes and performs music for community events and arts organizations in Utah. Melou has also written an operetta for children called “The Magic Heart” based on a book by the same name. Melou has recorded on albums with the Utah Chamber Artists and Barlow Bradford, Jon Schmidt, Kurt Bestor and Merrill Jensen. Other collaborative projects with Melou’s father (a talented vocal tenor) include “The Meaning of the Manger” (D. Michael Stewart and Melou Stewart) and “Come into My Dreams” (D. Michael Stewart and Melou Stewart). Melou has performed in world class venues such as Notre-dame Cathedral in Paris, St. Paul’s Cathedral in London, and Canterbury Cathedral. Melou’s performing has also taken her to Germany,Washington D.C., Northern Virginia, Baltimore, Maryland and Northern California and Brazil. Melou performed in Brazil with "The Ambassadors" in 1986 as a soprano soloist and pianist. She performed for approximately 6,000 people on tour in historic venues such as Teatro Nacional (Brasilia) Teatro Amazonas. Melou performed as well in Belem, Sete Lagoas, Belo Horizante, Goiania and Uberlandia. While living in Arlington,Virginia Melou performed nightly at the Sheraton Hotel in Crystal City. She also performed weekly in Stockton, California at the Safari Cafe while attending the University of the Pacific. Melou’s theatrical/musical roles have included Rose in “The Secret Garden,” (Utah), Ariel in “The Little Mermaid" (Arlington,Virginia) and Christine in “Phantom of the Opera- Musical Review" (Washington, D.C.) Melou is also a violinist who played with the University of Utah Orchestra, University of the Pacific Orchestra (California) and numerous string quartets in Northern Virginia and Utah. Melou has performed vocally with the Utah Chamber Artists (directed by Barlow Bradford) since 1996. Her former teachers include Beverly Benda of the Singing Sergeants (Virginia), Jo Ann Ottley, Katie Hill (Utah) and Lynelle Wiens (California). Other mentors include Susan Duehlmeier, Lenora Neal, Bonnie Winterton and Ricks Kundsen.
