Hello my name is Lisa. My fitness journey has had its ups and downs throughout my life. But first I will let you get to know a little more about me. I have lived in Utah my entire life. I grew up in a small town of Morgan with my two brothers and one sister. I married at a very young age (only 18 and just out of high school). This is where the battle with my weight began. I quickly went from a size 2 to a size 13. At that age I didn’t know fast food would make you gain weight so quickly; what happened to “eat whatever I want and not gain a pound”. I soon became pregnant and thought “I am pregnant so I can eat all the food want!”

After my son was born I started trying all the new weight loss gimmicks, fad diets, diet pills, and exercise equipment. Basically anything that promised fast weight loss. For nine years I played the rollercoaster weight loss game. I would lose weight only to gain it all back and more. I would exercised three to five times a week and follow what I thought was a good diet. I would end my exercise program or diet frustrated, depressed, and asking myself “What am I doing WRONG!”

In 2007 I saw an infomercial for P90X and bought the program. I wanted to get in shape before I got married to my second (current) husband. P90X changed the way I looked at exercising. For the first time in my life I started resistance/weight training. I was honestly very nerves because I did not know what to expect. I decided to do research on weight lifting and what effect it has on women. I found out that there are a lot of benefits with weight/resistance training: the more muscle an individual has the higher the individuals’ metabolism will be (muscle=metabolism); women don’t get bulky muscles but smaller leaner tone muscles do to the fact testosterone is the hormone that gives muscle mass or the bulky ripped look. Weight lifting or resistance training also reduces the risk for Cardiovascular Disease, Type 2 Diabetes, Metabolic Syndrome, some cancers, Osteoporosis, Arthritis, and helps fight depression by releasing endorphins “brains natural happy pill”.

I received awesome results from P90X and continued on with P90X One on One, Insanity, Slim in 6, Brazil Butt Lift, ChaLEAN Extreme, RevAbs, and TurboFire. Needless to say I was hooked and actually looked forward to my workouts. How many people can say that! Easy, the ones that found the right program for them. Everyone is different with different goals. I love Beachbody because there are so many different programs to choose from.

My desire to educate myself about fitness and nutrition became very important when my father was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. I decided to become a Personal Fitness Trainer. I enrolled in AFPA (American Fitness Professionals & Associates) and took Personal Fitness Trainer and Nutrition courses. From there I volunteered to teach a fitness class at Hill Air Force Base Fitness Center for the Pound for Pound Challenge; which was a 6 month program that donated a pound of food to the homeless shelter for every pound of weight lost.

I realized how much I enjoyed helping others with improving their life through fitness and nutrition. I started an ‘In Home Fitness and Nutrition Personal Training’ business. After two years I realized there was a lot more people that wanted my help then I had hours in the day. I had no time between my family, friends, clients, part time Fitness Trainer, and a full time job at Hill Air Force Base (where I am an electrician on the F15 fighter jet supporting the war fighter). My solution was to become an Independent Team Beachbody Coach and let the experts at Beachbody provide the best physical fitness programs in the industry.

As a coach I can offer my support, motivation, and encouragement. I can also give advice on nutrition; which is one of the main ingredients to permanent weight loss and good health. I have discovered through many years of failed diets that the more knowledge an individual has about nutrition the easier it is to change your bad eating habits to a healthy well balanced diet.

I would love to be your coach or one of your buddies on our journey of fitness. It may not always be easy to be fit and healthy; but it is worth it. Live life to the fullest every day.
