As a child, I was fascinated by nature. I loved playing sports, hiking, being outdoors and dance. I'd climb trees and become mesmerized by the texture of bark and the graceful form and movement of leaf and branch. Utah's red sandstone formations and the contrasting colors of plant life have inspired my work. After working for many years as a Registered Nurse and Health Educator, my adventures in the art world started when I took painting classes with one of Utah's notable oil painting artists. I painted for several years until an acquaintance introduced me to pottery making. I loved the clay, the ability to manipulate form, texture, and interpret nature. I was hooked! My pieces reflect my personality and interest. I like to add texture, color, and capture movement. Some of my signature pieces are teapots. Each teapot I create has its own personality: capturing an animal's or person's gesture or character, a hand placed on a hip or an arm waving to a friend. I was one of the original founding members of Clay Arts, Utah, an organization for clay artists. I have served in several capacities in the organization. You can find my pottery at Local Colors, in the Salt Lake City area, and in Evanston and Cheyenne, Wyoming; Sedona, Arizona; Texas, Alaska, Wisconsin, New York, and other shops or galleries in the US.
