Dave Tate and Victoria Lagerström - Houses of Healing Dave Tate’s soulful acoustic music combines intimate finger-picked acoustic guitar, passionate tenor vocals, and poetic imagery to show how strong quiet can be. A native of the red rock desert of Zion National Park, Tate’s music is inspired by the vast spacious beauty of his homeland. Tate's dynamic songwriting is similar to the softer material of Paul Simon and Jeff Buckley. Lyrics rooted in themes of self-discovery are a signature of Tate's music. His graceful yet intense style combines pure, intimate vocals with dynamic acoustic guitar tones. A native of Sweden, singer/songwriter Victoria Lagerström’s unique soulful voice, soaring melodies and earnest lyrics give her a strong appeal to audiences in Europe and the U.S. Although influenced by artists like Billie Holiday, Gladys Knight, and Eva Cassidy, Lagerström's sound is distinctly her own. This summer the Springdale based Singer/Songwriters will tour in Utah, Colorado and Oregon to promote Lagerström's new record Dancing With the Sun, the follow up to her critically acclaimed debut Heaven Sent. The work on Dancing With The Sun began with a huge personal transformation that catapulted Lagerström far beyond the familiar walls of her native home in Stockholm Sweden. Lagerström states "As I look back on the past five years of my life, I realize that I have just conquered a very steep mountain. My faith has been tested against my fear many times and I have been crushed under the weight of my doubt repeatedly. Writing and recording the eleven songs on my new album Dancing With The Sun is what helped me reach the peak with my heart still in one piece. I persisted because I knew that the inevitable leap into the unknown was a chance for my sun to shine a little brighter. I had to accept my invitation to the dance for love and for the sake of fulfilling some of my most cherished dreams." Lagerström met American singer/songwriter Dave Tate in the spring of 2007 when she traveled from Sweden to Salt Lake City to write and record with him. The couple fell in love and Lagerström ended up not using her return ticket to Sweden. Three weeks after her arrival they married among the beautiful cliffs of Zion National Park. Tate and Lagerström soon relocated to Austin, Texas and embarked on a successful tour to Europe. In 2009 Tate and Lagerström released their first Duet record. The Same Heart is a collection of songs about their Trans-Atlantic romance. Tate and Lagerström returned for a second successful European tour to support The Same Heart. Together Tate and Lagerström lead audiences into intimate spaces in their performances. The expressive acoustic guitar work of Tate beautifully compliments the soulful soaring tones of Lagerström's voice. The couple currently resides in Zion Canyon and continues to tour nationally and internationally.
