As an art therapist and artist, I appreciate both the process of creating artwork as well as the outcome. When a person is fully engaged in the process of creation, the finished artwork becomes pleasing to many. This often occurs, no matter what the level of expertise of the person who created the art. My goal is to create a safe, welcome space for any person who wants to create. I enjoy the amazing adventure that occurs when people discover something about themselves that they weren't necesarily aware of. As an artist, I can offer expertise in drawing, painting, pottery,(hand built as well as thrown) and mural art. Recycled materials are also a favorite medium WORK EXPERIENCE ART THERAPIST – 2011 to present UNIVERSITY NEUROPSYCHIATRIC INSTITUTE, 2011 - 2012 MARION CENTER, SARA DAFT HOME, SANTE NURSING CARE FACILITY, ALTA RIDGE NURSING FACILITY, AND THE CANCER WELLNESS HOUSE SALT LAKE CITY AND HEBER, UTAH • Created and led art groups for various geriatric and rehabilitation facilities GRAPHIC DESIGNER – 1997 - 2009 REUEL’S ART & FRAME 370 South West Temple, SLC, UT CONTRACTOR’S PUBLISHING 720 South 200 West, SLC, UT • ART THERAPIST – 1993-1996 COMMUNITY COUNSELING CENTER OF NORTHERN MADISON COUNTY, Alton, Illinois • Facilitated the use of art in a counseling program for mentally ill adults and children • Member of public relations committee in which art was used to educate the community about counseling services available • Implemented art therapy programs for local flood victims including co-facilitating a women’s groups as well as various children’s art groups • Developed, organized and implemented a recycling program within the agency FILM FESTIVAL PRODUCTION ASSISTANT – 1988 - 2004 TELLURIDE FILM FESTIVAL, Telluride.
