The Intermountain Suzuki String Institute offers a week long music camp for violin, viola, cello and bass servicing over 500 students and 150 teachers yearly. The children, of whom 90 percent are from Utah, study with musicians from around the world during the week. Our Institute is the largest in the Western Hemisphere. We have been fortunate to have had wonderful guest artists such as Time for Three, The Fry Street Quartet, Amy Barston and Jenny Oaks Baker. We also have teachers coming from all over the world such as Belgium, Singapore and Argentina to teach at our institute. The students that attend have four to six hours of classes consisting of masterclass, repertoire class, technique class, orchestra, chamber groups, performance class and computer music theory daily for a week. We also offer Chamber Days with the Fry Street Quartet, which is an intense chamber music camp for our advanced string players. Our teachers that attend learn how to properly teach the Suzuki Method as well as observe world class teachers teach so that they know how to apply what they see to their own private teaching.
