The recent COVID-19 pandemic has forced Hogle Zoo to make the difficult decision to end the World of Flight Bird Show.
Hogle Zoo has been closed since March 17 in compliance with local and federal health recommendations. Due to the closure, the Zoo’s cash flow came to a sudden and abrupt end, forcing the Zoo to tighten its belt in an effort to provide for the many animals and the staff that tends to their needs.

Steve Chindgren, who worked with Hogle Zoo as an outsourced independent contractor – responsible for the training and care of his own birds, said: “We’ve loved our 25 years of doing the show, and meeting thousands of Zoo guests. We’re saddened to see the show end, but we respect the fact that difficult decisions must be made and we wish the Zoo all the best.” Chindgren’s birds belong to him and he will keep his birds.
“We’re trying to navigate the Zoo through the toughest economic time in recent memory,” said Doug Lund, Vice President and COO. “In an effort to meet all of the needs of the animals we’ve had to reduce expenses in many areas, and we’re sad that the cost of renewing the bird show contract is prohibitive for the Zoo at this time.”
