The Utah Public Art Program of the Division of Arts and Museums, in association with the Division of Facilities and Construction Management and Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control West Valley has published a call for letters of interest and qualifications from artists or artist teams interested in creating public art or proposing existing art for the planned DABC stores in Syracuse and Herriman, Utah.

The Art Selection Committee for the project suggests the artwork may draw inspiration from or derive context from the communities of Herriman and Syracuse and/or the services offered by DABC, the architecture and/or the magnificent Utah landscape. This project is open to artists residing in the western United States to include (Utah, Idaho, Colorado, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, California, Washington, Oregon, Montana and Wyoming.)

The Public Art Program was created by the Utah State Legislature in 1985 with the passage of the Percent-for-Art-Act. This statute allows for 1 % of construction costs for new or remodeled State facilities to be added to the project for the commissioning or acquisition of art that is site specific to the facility and community.
