The Utah Arts Festival, the state’s largest, outdoor, multidisciplinary arts event, is seeking a qualified person to serve as its Marketing Director to develop and execute an effective annual marketing strategy for the organization and Festival taking place the 4th weekend of June.
The Marketing Director will oversee the brand voice, media partnerships, social media, public relations and advertising for the Festival. The individual works closely with the graphic designer and website company in executing the marketing campaign.
This is an annual contracted position requiring some evenings and weekends, especially during a 2-week period in June leading up to and during the Festival itself. Must be willing and available to respond to on-call needs as assigned. The nature of the Utah Arts Festival requires a commitment to be on-site during the four day Festival to handle all marketing and publicity needs.

Duties & Responsibilities:
 Work with the Executive Director on gathering market research to determine long-range strategic marketing
initiatives to increase attendance at the Festival.
 Lead all promotional campaigns across all branded and owned media platforms, including email, social
media network and website.
 Strategically place and leverage media buys to provide the best messaging for the Festival at the best value.
 Manage and create content for e-newsletters and website in consultation with Festival staff.
 Coordinate all ads and collateral marketing materials with graphic designer.
 Manage media partnerships and collaborations and work closely with the Development Director to cultivate
in-kind media sponsorships.
 Serves as point person to develop content for printed Guide, enewsletters, website and social media.
 Create and coordinate production of TV and radio spots.
 Coordinate on-site promotions for radio, television and other media outlets.
 Maintain advertising timeline, submitting all digital and print ads for external publications by deadline.
 Pitch stories to media outlets including print, radio, television and online to promote the Festival.
 Coordinate press interviews and news segments.
 Provide on-site marketing services all four days of the Festival.
 Create a marketing team for on-site needs – videos, photography, social media.
 Be the on-site resource for all media, including radio remotes, TV segments, and other PR needs as they
may arise.
 Support development department by promoting annual fundraising events and donation campaigns.
 Attend monthly coordinator meetings and ongoing planning meetings as necessary.
 Gather assets for design and web team.
 Manage external community calendars and event postings.
 Track advertising metrics.
 Write a comprehensive Festival wrap report as directed.
Position Requirements:
 Bachelor’s degree in marketing or 3-5 years equivalent experience leading marketing initiatives.
 Strong project management skills.
 Outstanding communication skills, verbal and written.
 Strong interpersonal and professional skills required and ability to work effectively with a variety of people.
 Excellent organizational skills including self management of work schedule.
 Must be able to maintain confidential information.
 Ability to work nights and weekends around events and key deadlines.
 Detail oriented, able to audit work to avoid mistakes, and perform tasks accurately.
