THE VOTERISE 2020 CHALLENGE

2020 is a year with great historical significance for Utah women. It marks the 150th anniversary of Utah women being the first to vote in the United States, the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution that began the expansion of voting rights for women throughout the country and the 55th anniversary of passage of the Voting Rights Act prohibiting racial discrimination in voting.

The VOTERISE 2020 CHALLENGE is a major new statewide VOTERISE initiative that will run up to the 2020 election. It is directed at the 300,000+ Utah women who are eligible but unregistered to vote. Since 16-year-olds may pre-register in Utah, this effort includes high school young women as well as all others.

The Director of Operations will, by varying methods, recruit women to be Ambassadors, with each Ambassador committing to register 20 other women. The goal is to have 1,000 Ambassadors and 20,000 new potential women voters.
