Salt Lake City, Utah – on August 16th from 3 - 10 pm, Regent Street and Block 70 in Downtown will be transformed into SLC's annual Busker Festival. Appropriate for all ages, Busker Fest will thrill audiences with musicians, dancers, hula-hoopers, jugglers, performance art and comedy acts. This event is free and open to the public.

"Buskers contribute to the character and texture of a vibrant city, engaging people in a delightful manner. Salt Lake City's Busker Fest brings local and regional acts to Regent Street, McCarthy Plaza, and Block 70. Harkening back to the city's rich Vaudeville roots, the festival will showcase local talent and encourage performers and the public to embrace street performers throughout the city. We are so excited to bring this event back for the second year in a row,” said Kim Angeli, Event Director.

SLC Busker Fest is putting out an immediate call for artists to participate in the August 16th event. Groups and individuals are invited to perform during the festival. There are spaces for several types of acts, including:

• Circle Acts - 30 minute shows

• Street Acts - 1 hour performance slots

• Curated Workshops - to engage the public and teach busking skills like juggling, magic, hooping

Busker Fest will be programmed in a Vaudeville theme, so please let us know if you have material or costumery supporting that effort. All acts will be considered, so do not let theme limit your willingness to apply. Performers will be paid and will be able to accept donations.

Artists and performers must apply in advance to participate. Our deadline for applications is August 2nd, 2019. The application form can be found at: https://www.buskerfestslc.com/call-for-artists

What is a busker? A busker is a person who entertains in a public place for donations. Busking is a time-honored tradition that adds to the vibrancy and culture of cities around the world - including here in Salt Lake City.
