Salt Lake City Arts Council Public Art Program Assistant

Overview
The Salt Lake City Arts Council Public Art Program is seeking an assistant to assist with the coordination and administration of Public Art projects in Salt Lake City in collaboration with, and under the direct supervision of the Public Art Program Manager. This is an administrative position seeking a candidate who is self-motivated, efficient, and can take initiative. This is a short-term, temporary position not to exceed 6 months and 28 hours per week, with potential to continue as year round part-time staff.
Responsibilities
Supporting Public Art Program staff and Salt Lake City Art Design Board with: maintaining documentation of programs; fielding inquiries from the general public on projects; assistance with facilitation of site visits, special events, and programs; conducting research related to public art and creative placemaking; and assistance with invoicing and payments.
Posting regularly on our social media platform and updating the public art website, saltlakepublicart.org.
Promoting artist opportunities and researching new opportunities to engage artists and stakeholders; and assisting in the coordination of press and promotion of projects.
Maintaining the Salt Lake City Public Art Collection Inventory and database.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a closely related field OR commensurate experience.
Previous experience in arts management, arts administration, public art, and/or art history is preferred, but not required.

This position requires a creative and detailed-oriented person who works well on a team and is passionate about the arts and community.

Ability to prepare and present project details using complex spreadsheet analysis, graphic presentations and technical reports to Division Managers, City Council, and general public.
Strong writing and editing skills are preferred.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse groups and people, including elected officials, department officials, staff, and community representatives.

Demonstrated ability to work independently with initiative, self-reliance, and dependability.
