Description: The Best Friends Salt Lake City Photography and Content Intern will help create, edit and distribute photos of adoptable animals and photograph other events and/or projects as needed.

Reports to: Amy Davila Sanchez, Communications Manager, Mountain West Region
Hours: 5-10 hours/week for a minimum of 12 weeks. Schedule flexible.
Learning objectives:
Gain experience in the art of animal photography
Learn how to select and edit engaging photographs that will inspire the public to adopt or foster homeless pets
Develop an understanding of management of social media platforms for Best Friends accounts, predominantly Instagram
Develop the knowledge and skills necessary to be an advocate for Best Friends and our mission of bringing about a time when there are no more homeless pets
Duties include:
Photographing adoptable animals as needed (likely 2x/week)
Brainstorming and executing photo shoot ideas for use in marketing promotions and campaigns based on seasonality and trends (Valentine's Day, Catchella, Sundance, etc.)
Collaborating on photo shoots and campaigns in order to increase adoptions and fostering
Providing support at Best Friends events by capturing the event experience and adoptions in real time
Leading conception and execution of at least one visually compelling Instagram takeover on Best Friends’ social channel(s)
Photographing other events/projects as assigned by marketing team (may be off-site)
Editing and uploading files in a timely manner
Providing support for Best Friends social channels
Requirements:
Currently studying or graduated with degree in Photography, Marketing, Visual Arts, Communications or other related field
Must be 18 years or older
Must have good communication skills and be comfortable meeting new people
Must have reliable transportation to and from the Lifesaving Center 1–2 days a week and to off-site events as needed
Must use own DSLR camera and computer (with Photoshop or other editing software) to photograph and edit files
Must have strong working knowledge of Instagram and Instagram specific promotion methods
Must have a passion for animal welfare
Must be comfortable around cats and dogs, including those with medical and/or behavioral issues
Must be available 5–10 hours every week for minimum of 12 weeks
