Proposals are being accepted from January 1 - 31, 2020 for exhibitions in 2020 and 2021

The Rio & Alice Galleries were created as a service to Utah artists and the community at large. They provide a free venue for emerging and established artists to collaborate on exhibitions, participate in the process of producing an exhibit, and engage the community through art and dialogue. Both galleries host public receptions on select Salt Lake Gallery Stroll evenings. We accept exhibition proposals twice-yearly for 7-8 week exhibitions. A $200 artist support fee is available per exhibition (paid to artist or group).

We welcome proposals from Utah artists, arts organizations, and independent curators age 18 and over. These include solo exhibitions, small group shows, or larger curated exhibits. Please note, only the Alice Gallery accepts solo proposals. Due to the high volume of solo proposals, group proposals (2+ artists) have a higher probability of acceptance. All visual arts media including new genres are accepted. All work must be original. There is no fee for entry. You can review past exhibitions here.

The Utah Division of Arts & Museums aims to foster free expression, impactful exhibitions, and to engage the community through art-making and dialogue. The Visual Arts Committee reviews and selects proposals for the galleries. Quality, completion, and clarity of the proposal as well as media, reach, and content submitted are all considered. The Rio Grande Depot and Glendinning Historic Mansion are multi-use buildings and the Visual Arts Committee reserves the right to make final decisions on which works are appropriate for a gallery within a public space. The Utah Division of Arts & Museums promotes equity that involves all people, including those who have been historically underrepresented. Diversity, equity, and inclusion consciousness are encouraged.
