CALL FOR ART/ARTISTS

Coming to Mestizo Gallery, April 1 – 30, 2020, this exhibition is open to all young visual artists.

Youth In Charge is an opportunity for youth and young adults to explore their experiences of safety, or lack of safety, through ART. Tell us about an experience when you did not feel safe. Tell us what you did to help yourself and help others. Share your experiences!

Presented by NeighborWorks Salt Lake and Mestizo Gallery, in collaboration with Krcl 90.9 FM, SLUG Magazine, the Salt Lake Gallery Stroll and West of East, Youth in Charge is part of a three-month series “Art in the Hood.” Designed to bring attention to and create dialogue about the complex social issues surrounding safety, displacement, and gentrification and the impact these issues have on underserved communities, “Art in the Hood” also educates young people in the social and cultural significance of community engagement and events.

How It Works:

The Youth in Charge exhibition is open to all young artists residing in Salt Lake City (part-time residents, including students, are eligible). All submissions are intended to spark a conversation. Bring something you have or create something new. Use your own voice.

The gallery is open to everyone. Keep this in mind as you consider your submission.

Deadline: March 1st for proposals. All submissions are due March 27th.

For more information, questions and/or to submit a proposal, please contact artinthehood20@gmail.com or 801-609-4502.
