Job Summary: The UAA Volunteer Coordinator engages community members as volunteers to address the needs of the organization. The Volunteer Coordinator will manage all elements of volunteering for the organization, including assessing and meeting UAA’s needs through the recruitment, placement and retention of volunteers.
Primary Responsibilities: Create a volunteer application/interest form;
Coordinate with all UAA staff and departments to establish the organization’s volunteer needs;
Create volunteer role descriptions both generally and for specific volunteers;
Interview interested volunteers, and match people with volunteer opportunities within the organization;
Maintain a volunteer database that tracks volunteer hours;
Communicate regularly with volunteers;
Oversee volunteers in their service and train staff on how to oversee volunteers;
Engage in the ongoing recruitment of new volunteers and retain current volunteers for future events and projects;
Create and manage a reward system for volunteers;
Coordinate volunteers for major UAA events including the SLC White Party, the Mural Festival, Urban Arts Festival, Illuminate Salt lake, Connect and UAA Gala and Awards. As well as projects and programs throughout the organization.
Other duties as assigned.
Conduct volunteer orientation and trainings to provide volunteers with proper knowledge.
Follow up after every volunteer shift and events with surveys and collect data.
Plan Appreciation party after each event and regular socials.
Update FAQ sheet and contact list regularly.
Desired Qualifications: Part-time, flexible schedule – 15-25 hours/week (hours may vary, especially during special events)
Position reports to the Executive Director
Pay is commensurate with experience
Must be available for special events and have reliable transportation.
Professional volunteer coordinating experience preferred.
Passion for the UAA’s mission to foster the arts in all forms.
Outstanding communication and organizational skills, responding to emails within a reasonable time.
Team-player who can work well with all personality types.
Proficient in basic computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and Google Docs.
Should be self-motivated with the ability to take initiative.
