Artistic Director Application Information The Cache Children’s Choir is accepting applications for an Artistic Director. Applications will be accepted until position is filled. Cache Children’s Choir is a nonprofit organization that strives to:

• Prepare children for a lifetime of singing by providing quality music training

• Develop the talent and self-esteem of children through guided musical experiences

• Share music and information with the public to develop an educated audience

• Foster the creation of new works for children’s voices

• Support music education in the public schools

Hours

Part-time, approx. 50 hours per month Must be available Mondays from 3:30-6:30 pm, other hours flexible This is a 12-month position

Salary $1160 monthly Required Qualifications Bachelor degree, or the equivalent, in a relevant field Prior experience working with young singers Excellent organizational skills Clear written and verbal communication skills Ability to manage long-term projects People management skills Preferred Qualifications Public or private school teaching experience Advanced training in choral conducting, child voice, and/or Orff, Kodaly, or other approach Description The artistic director works in partnership with the administrative director and reports to the board of directors. He/she provides the artistic vision for the choir and is responsible for the overall leadership and direction of the choir.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Artistic Management Provide overall artistic leadership and direction to choirs and collaborative artists and ensembles:

_Teach one of the choirs and oversee the instruction in the other choirs

_Supervise all artistic aspects in the choice of repertoire and selection of venues

_Select a range of repertoire appropriate for the singers and the mission of the program _Oversee the audition process for upper level choirs

_Actively recruit for the choir and develop strategies for long-term recruitment

_Prepare choir for two major concerts a year and approximately four additional community concerts

_Work with the administrative director to coordinate arrangements for touring and concert logistics

_Coordinate summer camp programs in conjunction with teaching staff Board of Directors Work with the board of directors and its officers to help them fulfill their functions:

_Attend all meetings of the executive committee and full board as ex officio

_Offer prompt and thoughtful responses to requests for information

_ Assist designated board member or staff to develop, coordinate, and execute a comprehensive strategy of financial development and support Planning Oversee short- and long-range planning; engage board and staff in periodic planning sessions:

_In conjunction with the administrative director and executive committee, prepare the strategic plans and strategies for implementation

_With the board, evaluate progress toward goals on a regular basis

_ Involve the Parent Board as appropriate and work with the administrative director to maintain clear communication with parents regarding chorus activities Community Relations Work with the administrative director to develop and maintain community relationships that are significant to the choir’s vision and mission:

_This could include developing relationships with arts peers in the community, representing the chorus at community functions, and being a spokesperson for the chorus to the media, government agencies, corporate community, foundations, funders, and the school community

_Use education outreach programs to increase awareness of the chorus by corporations

, grant sources, and the general public Serve as the official spokesperson for the organization Staff Management Work with the board and the administrative director to hire, train, and supervise teaching and staff positions to achieve the organization’s goals and objectives Work with the administrative director to organize monthly staff meetings
