Calling all Summit County artists!

The PCSC Arts Council is pleased to announce a Call for Artists for the 2020 Summit Arts Showcase, located at the Red Barn in Oakley, UT on July 18th.

This event is an annual juried summer art show, the only one of its kind on the Eastern side of the County. The Arts Council produces the annual Summit Arts Showcase to support local artists and provide an opportunity for them to present their work.

Set against the Uinta mountain range, the Oakley Red Barn is a gorgeous setting to exhibit our local talent and for arts enthusiasts to come expose themselves to art and grow their collections. Local art events help connect people, and bring the community together. The Arts Council is proud to continue our tradition to offer the 10th Annual Summit Arts Showcase this year — an event that we feel is especially needed as we all continue to stay physically distanced but socially connected.

Due to the current state of the COVID-19 pandemic, this year will be a little different. The Arts Council has been granted permission by Oakley City to bring our annual Summit Arts Showcase outdoors, and utilize the parking lot as the main venue to help disperse artists and visitors. Artists are required to bring their own set up to the show including a 10 x 10 pop-up tent with weights (maximum size), tables, chairs, and any display panels you would like to use in your booth.

The event will follow all yellow phase health guidelines set by the State of Utah and the Summit County Health Department. The Arts Council will provide PPE supplies for both artists and visitors including masks, gloves, and hand sanitizer upon entry. All artists will be required to wear and masks, and perform contactless payment for artwork sales. We will also recommend that all patrons of the event wear masks when visiting the Summit Arts Showcase. The Arts Council will provide disposable masks if visitors do not have their own.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, July 18 from 11-7pm. The day will be filled with artistic entertainment including musical performances and live art demonstrations in addition to the art showcase. The Arts Council will also have local food trucks onsite to encourage visitors to have a picnic lunch or dinner during the event.

The deadline to apply for the Summit Arts Showcase is Friday, June 26th. Artists working in any visual art medium are encouraged to apply. Space is limited, and preference is given to Summit County residents.

To apply, please fill out the artist application here and send 3 images (jpg or png) of your artwork to admin@pcscarts.org by the deadline. Artists will be selected by a jury of local artists and art enthusiasts from Summit County. All applicants will be notified about the status of their application by July 3rd. If selected, the registration fee to participate in the event is $65.
