Job Title: Development Director Department: Development Reports To: Executive Director Position Designation: Full-time, non-exempt, 40+ hours per week Pay Range: $42,000 - $55,000

Summary

The Utah Museum of Contemporary Art seeks a proactive self-starter with fundraising, development, and grant writing experience to assume the position of Development Director. The Development Director reports to the Executive Director and trains and mentors the Development Coordinator

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Grant writing:

o Search out new grant opportunities

o Write grants (foundation and government) and file grant reports

o Attend granting organization events, including ZAP Open House and special days at the Capitol

• Donations/Donors:

o Create and implement a major gift campaign

o Cultivate potential donors and maintain current donor relations

o Work with the Executive Director to secure donations

o Maintain the donor database

o Maintain donor correspondence including writing thank you notes and sending year-end tax receipts

o Create content for and maintain sponsorship documents

• Membership:

o Create content for membership collateral

o Send renewal letters and membership emails

o Arrange membership events

• Gala:

o Help plan and execute all aspects of the annual gala, pre- and post-event

• Other Duties:

o Develop the departmental budget

o Oversee the comprehensive development plan

o Maintain the supporter wall and webpage information

o Help plan and execute all aspects of donor and VIP events

o Email board meeting reminders and prepare meeting materials

o Take board minutes and type them up following meetings

o Miscellaneous operations duties Qualifications

• A degree in a relevant field of study (e.g., Museum Studies, Non-Profit Administration, Art, Art History, Art Education, Small Business Management, or other relevant field of study)

• At least 3-5 years’ experience in Development, donor relations, and event planning

• Candidate must be able to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously, and have excellent written and verbal communication skills
