JOB OVERVIEW

The Executive Director (ED) has overall strategic and operational responsibility for Art Access staff, programs, fundraising, and effective execution of its mission to ensure the long-term stability of the organization.

Workdays are Monday through Friday, with some evening and weekend hours for community events and programs.
Benefits for this position include health insurance, a Simple IRA and IRA match, and paid vacation and holidays.
Salary Range is $57,000-$65,000; starting salary will be commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities will include the following:

ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERSHIP

Work closely with the Board of Directors to pursue Art Access’ vision and execute its mission, including serving as an ex-officio member on the executive committee and staff liaison on other committees as necessary.
Provide monthly reports to the Board.
Develop long- and short-term strategic priorities with the Board.
Lead ongoing programmatic excellence and results-oriented program evaluation.
Maintain excellent collaborative relationships with community groups, funders, politicians, and other organizations to help achieve the goals of the organization and represent Art Access at community events.
Successfully recruit, supervise, and retain qualified full-time and part-time Staff and Volunteers. Work with the Board to update personnel policies as necessary.
Maintain a current knowledge of developments and trends in the fields of art, disability, leadership and nonprofit operations.
FINANCIAL PLANNING

Work with the Staff and Board to prepare a comprehensive annual budget.
Oversee the effective day-to-day operations of the organization and administer funds according to the approved budget.
Monitor monthly cash flow and provide the Board with comprehensive, regular reports on the revenues and expenditures of the organization.
Within the Board-approved budget, make and sign contracts on behalf of Art Access.
FUNDRAISING AND DEVELOPMENT

Expand revenue generating and fundraising activities (including the Annual Appeal, 300 Plates Exhibition and Fundraiser, and others)  to support program operations.
Build and sustain relationships with current and potential donors, foundations, corporations and government agencies.
Work with Staff and Board to develop and facilitate an annual fundraising plan.
PROGRAMS

Work closely with the Assistant Director to ensure the full range of programs are equitable, accessible, high quality, innovative, and support the mission.
Plan and facilitate Breaking Barriers training.
Advocate for and lead community conversations around cultural accessibility in Utah for people with disabilities, BIPOC, and other marginalized communities.
Facilitate, coordinate, attend, and support Art Access programs and workshops as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS

The ED must be committed to Art Access’ mission and have proven leadership, fundraising, and community engagement skills. Experience and other qualifications should include:

Bachelor’s degree and at least five years progressive management experience, preferably in a disability, arts, and/or nonprofit field.
Experience with disability accessibility, racial equity, and social justice work.
Direct experience with fundraising and resource development including cultivation, events, grant writing, donor solicitation, etc.
Strong interpersonal skills with excellent written and verbal communication.
