Museum Director- Museum of Utah

The Department of Cultural & Community Engagement and the Utah Division of State History are looking for a Museum Director for the newly created Museum of Utah. Projected to open in Spring 2026, the museum is the first State Museum to focus on Utah’s history and culture.

Reporting to the Director of the Utah Division of State History, the Museum Director will serve as a forward-thinking chief executive officer of the museum and part of the leadership team at the Utah Division of State History. The Museum Director will have a unique opportunity to both help create and then lead this new State institution. The Museum Director will be committed to museum excellence and possess a deep appreciation for the changing museum field; principles of access, diversity, equity and inclusion; community engagement, and high-quality visitor experiences. This individual will represent the Museum of Utah regionally and nationally to external stakeholders, constituents, and community partners. They will build excitement, provide leadership, and create an invigorating strategic direction in support of the museum.
