Join us for MUNDI LIVE @ Marmalade this February with classical guitarist, Gabino Flores, featuring a special guest performance by the Youth Classical Guitar Ensemble.
Gabino Flores was born in Mexico City. He was 11 years old when he picked up his guitar for the first time. It was not until he was 19 years old that he started his professional studies at the National Institute of Fine Arts (El Instituto Nacional de Belles Artes INBA), under the direction of Alfredo Bacca. After two years he studied in the National Conservatory of Music in Mexico City where Fernando Cruz played an important role as his instructor of guitar. In 1997, he took master classes under the direction of John Williams about perfection of technique and Interpretation, and he continued to participate in other master classes, including instruction from Fernando Marina in 2000.
Since 1998, Gabino has been teaching young classical guitarists from all around Mexico City and Salt Lake City. He currently conducts the Utah Classical Guitar Orchestra with Utah Classical Guitar, as well as the Youth Classical Guitar Ensemble.
