People Productions presents MA RAINEY’S BLACK BOTTOM, a classic play by August Wilson, the author of FENCES.
People Productions presents August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom at the Sugar Space Arts Warehouse (132 South, 800 West). Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, April 13-15, and Thursday through Saturday, April 20-23, with 2 p.m. matinees on April 15 and 22, and Sunday, April 23.
Ma Rainey, the legendary “Mother of the Blues”, and her band come to a recording session at Chicago’s Paramount Records in December 1927, but by the time they are finished, the audience has a record of what it’s like to be a Black artist in America.
Tickets are $15 for adults, and $10 for seniors and students, and may be reserved at the People Productions website (http://peopleproductions.org) and are paid for at the door. Tickets may also be purchased at the door.
