Come to HEAL’s 14th annual Spring Breakfast featuring speaker former EPA regional administrator Shaun McGrath.
We are delighted to welcome former EPA regional administrator Shaun McGrath to be the featured speaker at HEAL’s 14th Annual Spring Breakfast. McGrath, who also served in the Obama White House and as a pioneering green mayor of Boulder, will talk to HEAL supporters on the morning of Thursday May 18 about the achievements of Obama’s EPA — and how those are threatened under the new Administration.
McGrath will describe his work as the chief of EPA Region 8 — which includes Utah and much of the Mountain West — at a time when the agency cracked down on Utah’s coal power pollution and pushed our state to do more to clean up our air. While mayor of Boulder, he helped lead the city’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions and to adapt the nation’s first “smart grid”. Once he left the mayoralty, he helped lead Boulder’s pioneering effort to set up its own utility. Prior to his time with the EPA, Shaun served in the White House during the first two years of the Obama Administration, working on issues such as the Recovery Act, the Affordable Care Act, and the BP Gulf Oil Spill. Earlier, he was with the Western Governor’s Association for 14 years managing water, drought, climate and wildlife programs.
In other words, Shaun McGrath has a tremendous amount of experience directly relevant to HEAL Utah.
