USU – Spike 150 Lecture Series

A Spike 150 lecture series will be presented by Utah State University’s Brigham City Campus. The monthly lectures are free and open to the public. They will be live in Brigham City as well as broadcast to many counties in the state.  They will also be available live online at aggiecast.usu.edu

Each month starting in January, Utah State University’s Brigham City Campus will present and broadcast a historical lecture associated with the transcontinental railroad.  The lectures will be open and free to the public. They will be live at the USU Brigham City building and broadcast to many locations throughout the state.  They will be informative, engaging, and full of history associated with the transcontinental railroad.  All lectures will be at 7:00 pm.  The schedule is as follows:

January 10 – A historical snapshot of the US/Utah in the 1860’s – Marko DeMonja

February 7 – Laying the groundwork for the transcontinental railroad – John Barton

March 7 – Building the rails part 1 – Engineering and Construction – Daren Dance

April 11 – Building the rails part 2 – The people and key players – Dr. Kathryn L MacKay

May 2 – Why Promontory? The joining of the rails and what it meant for America – Dr. F. Ross Peterson
