America's Railroad: A Choral Concert

America's Railroad: A Choral Concert

Presented by Waterford School and Golden Spike 150 at Utah State Capitol Building

The setting of the Rotunda in Utah’s State Capitol where two exhibits about the Transcontinental Railroad are on display, is a perfect location to hear music about the competition of the railroad by Classes I and II of the Waterford School.  Hear railroad favorites such as I’ve Been Working on the Railroad and Engine Engine No. 9 as well as songs about the work it took to build the road, the change it brought to the nation, the lavish party held when Union Pacific reached the 100th Meridian, what it was like to build the Summit Tunnel, the raising of six children on the railroad by Mr. and Mrs. Strobridge, the amazing feat of laying 10 miles of track in a day, and finally the coming together of Central Pacific and Union Pacific at Promontory.

Join the Spike 150 celebration by attending this concert on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at Noon.
