An epic rock opera about a pretty great state.
Deseret Experimental Opera premieres a brand new rock opera “Life Relegated,” On May 16-19, 2019 at the Gateway Mall, 400 West 100 South SLC, UT. Attendees will embark on railroad themed tour of the national parks of southern Utah, played by five local bands – each on representing a national park of Utah.
With original libretto and lyrics by Jacob Rosenzweig, “Life Relegated” will not only be an opportunity for audience members to learn more about the great parks in our state but also follow the national parks in their own struggles to make ends meet.
This production will be a feast for the eyes and ears with a cast of over two dozen musicians, and dancers in life size costumes of five visual artists’ 3-D designs of Capitol Reef, Canyonlands, Arches, Bryce Canyon, and Zion’s National Parks. The rock bands featured in “Life Relegated” include, It Foot Ears, Durian Durian, Wallfly, and 8eaut1ful5. Dance will be choreographed and performed by Porridge for Goldilocks, Emma Wilson, Meagan Bertelsen, Carly Schaub, Allison Shir, Emma Sargent, and Peter Larsen.
